Johnny Buffalo

Johnny Buffalo is a professional beatboxer, guitarist and producer based in NYC. Johnny’s career in music started when he picked up the guitar at the age of 14. He performed with bands in high school before attending SUNY Fredonia for classical guitar and sound recording technology. It wasn’t until his senior year of college that Johnny learned how to beatbox and quickly became obsessed. He moved to New York City, where he assimilated into a community of beatboxers, which helped shape who he is today. Since then, Johnny has worked with non-profit arts organizations such as the Hip Hop Re:education Project and Urban Art Beat, and has performed at events such as the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival and the Trinity Hip Hop Festival (where he opened for Talib Kweli). At the American Beatbox Championships in 2015, he placed 2nd in both the loop station and 2v2 battles. He has performed internationally, from Toronto, to Berlin, to Krakow. He also tours nationally with the professional a cappella group Backtrack Vocals, where he has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Beacon Theatre, BB&T Pavillion, as well as appearing on Steve Harvey’s daytime show, and on Broadway’s Kinky Boots. For his solo project, Johnny combines electronic trap and hip hop production, with rock guitar, and some hints of classical guitar as well. It is a fusion of all of his biggest influences in music. The live show for this project is completely performance based, where everything will be performed live on stage, with Buffalo switching between guitar, beatboxing, keys, and bass. It is a truly unique sound and performance experience.
