Remains found last month in a Wellington pond have been identified as William Moldt, who was reported missing more than 20 years ago, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
WELLINGTON – The skeletal remains of a person found in a submerged vehicle last month have been identified as a man who went missing more than 20 years ago, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. The person was identified as William Moldt, who was reported missing on Nov. 8, 1997.The remains were found the evening of Aug. 28 after a resident in the 3700 block of Moon Bay Circle reported finding a submerged vehicle in a retention pond behind his residence.Deputies responding to the scene noted that the vehicle was heavily calcified and determined that it had been in the water for a significant amount of time.Upon removing the vehicle, skeletal remains were found inside, the sheriff’s office said. The vehicle and the remains were turned over the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office for processing.No other details were disclosed Wednesday night.jwhigham@pbpost.com@JuliusWhigham
