Katie Maloney ‘Would Like To Be There For’ Brittany Cartwright Amid Separation

Maybe it takes a little bit of marital strife to bring friends together. On the heels of the news that Brittany Cartwright separated from husband Jax Taylor, her former co-stars have been reaching out to check in on her.

And one former friend is even considering ending her feud with the Kentucky native because of it. Katie Maloney is ready to bury the hatchet with Brittany after the pair had a falling out over Stassi Schroeder’s destination wedding in Rome, Italy. Here’s what she had to say.

Katie knows “what it’s like” to deal with heartbreak in the public eye

During the April 30 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the Something About Her co-owner revealed that despite having not “been very close with Brittany in the last of years,” she did reach out to the VPR alum to check in on her.

Katie said she was motivated to do so because she knows, “what it’s like to be in the shoes that she’s in.”

“I would like to be there for her in whatever capacity I can be,” the reality TV star added.

Fans were reminded of the extent of the feud when Katie appeared on the April 23 episode of Vanderpump Rules After Show.

“We were all planning to go to Italy,” the VPR favorite explained. “We were making plans and arrangements and all that, and I remember Stassi and I were talking to Brittany for the longest time about all that, and she was very sort of avoiding the questions and didn’t really want to get involved in the planning of it all, but she would still. She’d get excited and talk about it. But then right up until like the days before, she became very avoidant of it all. So then the morning that we’re all supposed to go to Italy, Brittany sends a message saying, ‘Oh my god, we’re not going to be able to make it, we didn’t get the passport in time, yada yada yada. Just excuse, excuse, excuse.” 

For Katie, the lack of transparency was inexcusable.

“I just feel like there were so many lies, and I don’t like lies,” she said. “I just, I f-cking hate lies, man. Like, nothing more than that. So I’m just like, you know, I need a break … and also Jax has just been such a f-cking asshole to me for no reason.”

And while Katie didn’t think the feud would “be permanent,” she found fault with Brittany after her former co-star wasn’t actively checking in on her during her split from Tom Schwartz.

“Brittany texted me once [and] asked me how the move was going,” but “never checked in on me, never once asked me anything,” Katie said.

“So I was like, you know, I’m good on you,” she concluded.

For her part, Brittany told producers during the VPR After Show that trying to mend issues with Katie was “very intimidating.”

“She was the matron of honor in my wedding,” Brittany added. “Like, I love her so much. I still have a lot of love for her. But it’s just crazy how we just don’t talk anymore.”

Here’s to hoping these girls can get along again. Indeed, Brittany by proxy of her relationship with Jax may have had unnecessary drama within the group.
